"Education is the most powerful weapon which   you can use to change the world". Nelson Mandela

Timsbury Pre-school serves the community of Timsbury and the surrounding villages.

We offer and allocate places according to age, with children in their pre-school year being given priority. However, there may be occasions where priority is given to a child with particular needs. Places are allocated throughout the year subject to availability.

We admit children when they are two years old, subject to availability.

We recommend that all children should attend for at least 2 sessions a week to help the settling in process and to help build strong bonds with their keyperson. Other sessions can be added if available.

We also run a stay and play session which runs every Wednesday morning from 9.00am-10.30am. This allows perspective parents to come and find out what we do at pre-school and join in our morning session. This is a free play and is a really good way for your child to get used to the environment before enrolling in the pre-school. A small donation is requested if your child would like to join in snack time. To find out more about Stay and Play visit our Facebook page.

The term after their 3rd birthday, children are eligible for Government funding for up to 30 hours a week (i.e. 10 sessions). The pre-school will aim to accommodate these hours for all eligible children in their pre-school year (i.e. those going to school the following September).

Children receiving 15 hours of funding can have additional hours if space allows and these will be charged at the hourly rate.

Please note: If your child is offered a place at Timsbury Pre-school this does not mean that they will be offered a place at St Mary’s Primary School – a separate application will need to be done for school.

For further information please see our admissions policy. To apply for a place for your child use the Initial Application Form.

Fees & Hours

Fees are currently £4.70 per hour for two year olds and £4.50 per hour for three year olds.

A morning session includes a snack and a drink of milk. This also includes holidays and absence through sickness but excludes school holidays and bank holidays.

Fees are payable by cash or by cheque half-termly in advance (made payable to Timsbury Pre-school). Voucher scheme payments are also welcome.

Grant funding is available to every child from the term after their third birthday and may be available before this if the child has a special need or circumstance.

Children bring their own packed lunch and we encourage them to finish any food left during the afternoon session. Any children who don't have anything left are provided with a snack by the Pre-school.

Join the Committee

If you're interested in joining the Preschool Committee, please get in touch. We are a friendly group of parents and staff who meet monthly and are always looking for new members to join our team, to oversee the running of the Preschool. It is a great way to get to know other parents and help the Pre-school raise funds for new equipment and extra treats!
